How much weight for Electronics?

The Question is fairly simple, how much weight is set aside for your electronics usually(excluding motors)

Also not in the pole, how much space usually?

We are setting aside 18 pounds for everthing wiring related this year.

I think that the engineer who tracks our weight sets aside 20lbs for our controls. I doubt we’re that heavy, and I think it’s more like 10ish lbs. We should weigh it this year.

As far as space goes, for the past several years (from what I’ve seen of old bots) T3 has used a piece of plexiglass, about 3ft by 2ft (don’t quote me here, I’m not good at estimating things–I’m a programmer, not a mechanical guy) with the highest part extending maybe 6 inches above the plexiglass. Last year’s was taller than that, I think, because we made a stand to hold the RC directly above the breaker panel, adding height.

Last year our electrical system weighed about 12 lb. We used 10 Victors, no Spikes, and the 2005 IFI breaker panel. This year I expect a slightly heavier electrical system because that panel is not allowed.

I’d budget for 20 pounds and hope for better… Wire weight adds up quick.

As a side note, for those who find themselves overweight, this is an area where a lot of wieght can be removed. Removing excess wiring is quite a bit easier than speed holes!

Weight and size raised for the DIN mounting and Maxi block.
