Hey guys, do you think the robot will shoot it a bit further if the ball pistons were in contact more. :rolleyes:

  1. Pick up balls with roller wheels
  2. Lift up elevator to proper height
  3. Drop pistons into position
  4. Fire
  5. Jump up and down
  6. Retract pistons
  7. Lower elevator
  8. Repeat

Hey, thats pretty sweet! We were thinking of the same idea (we’re working with a 12" or 24" actuator… any opinions on which one? Also, what PSI did you guys use to launch? Isnt there a rule that only 60 psi can be used or something? That is really cool launcher. Congrats! :slight_smile:

two 24 inch pistons (2" bore) running at 60psi.

I will try to get the other video of us shooting, after a little tweaking we found that the ball travels a much further distance when it is resting on the pistons (in the video the pistons and the ball are separated by about 5-6 inches).

If you have the weight I’d say go with the 24" pistons, they have a nice follow through.

When we started to build this shooter we knew safety was going to be key. First of all when the robot is not used we disconnect our source for air and also leave the leak valve open. Second the pistons will only allow deployment when the shaft position encoder is correct for our shooting height. We have a long list of things we do before we fire. But thanks for the tips, some of them are quite helpful.

Also the secondary driver needs to push a series of buttons just to get the pistons to drop down, let alone to get the big pistons to fire.

As long as you don’t have to pat your belly and rub your head at the same time.

we’re using a 2" 24" bore its a air hog no two ways about it. It took some creative plumbing to get it to work.
