How the canceled 2020 season affects the competitive robotics product development cycle (question for suppliers)

I have a question for suppliers and figured this may be the best place to ask it. With the 2020 season canceled, how does the decrease in new-in-2020 product field-testing and feedback affect the development cycle, or does it not affect it at all?

I’m asking this solely out of curiosity and would love to hear different perspectives. As an aside, to those who aren’t suppliers, does the shortened season affect how “tried and tested” you believe new products released for this past season are? Would you use a product in a theoretical 2021 season if it were released for the 2020 season but saw little strenuous use?

If I could buy it, and put it through its paces at home, then sure.

If something has the potential to gain us a tangible competitive advantage and is from a company we trust (given that our budget also allows it, which is questionable for 2021) we would most likely still purchase items that are not yet battle tested.

Personally I would still expect extensive beta testing though. Not sure how feasible that is this year.
