Adding an automatic deploy directory to LabVIEW project

-
Create a physical sub-directory “Deploy” under the main project directory.

Add the “Deploy” directory to the project as an auto-populating folder.
-
Right click on the build specification, “FRC Robot Boot-up Deployment” and select properties.

(picture) -
Select “Destinations” tab. Press “Plus” to add a new destination. Fill in the dialog as follows. Destination Label “DeployDirectory” (no quotes), Destination path “/home/lvuser/natinst/LabVIEW Data” (no quotes, case MUST match), Destination type “Directory”, Preserve disk heirarchy “unchecked”
-

-
To build and deploy.
a. Right click on build specification and click on “Build”
b. After build completes, and while connected to the robot, right clic on
build specification and click “Run as startup”. As part of this
deploy the files in the “Deploy” directory will be copied to the robot.
Note - I tried a couple of years ago to ask FRC / NI to add this to the standard robot project. It was liked by at least one person, but I haven’t seen it implemented. It would be really great to have this (or something like it) as part of the standard project.
