How to do infinity belts

We are wanting to run a top and a bottom conveyor belt off of one motor and it seemed like an infinity belt would be the best way to do that. I don’t entirely understand how to design it, however.

Alternatively you could run a belt between them with a 1 to 1 gear stage to change direction

Poly cord with a twist in it. That said I personally prefer using a gearset and two timing belts to accomplish the same thing, mostly because I have only had issues with polycord.

The design is pretty simple, you just twist the belt before you install it. Of course, you need to make it the correct length, and also make sure it has a very deep groove to fit into so it won’t move around.

This is one really hokey way to do it, that works. Keep in mind that it’s still sort of prototypish.

We use belted drive trains so we just took one of those belts and twisted it for our intake wheels last year and it worked just fine.
