how to set up an alternative netbook

Hi, I been looking through the posts, using search but I do not understand how to use a netbook as a backup.

Here is what I have done so far:
In the netbook, which uses NTFS format, I set up a partition drive for the FIRST usb image with about 4.88 gb of memory under FAT32, using the included Disk Management in Windows 7 Starter software (on the Gateway Netbook LT20).

I have tried to boot up using the USB Image but it is not being recognized, I went in to check the memory of the USB Image on the netbook and it states the drive is empty. I will try it on another computer to set up the imagine. Anyway, my question is two fold:

  1. Did I do the right steps to create another drive that can run the FIRST software
  2. How do I get the netbook to install the software from the flashdrive onto extra drive I created.

Thanking you.

Don’t try to load the USB image on anything other than the provided Classmate.

To use any Windows computer as a Driver Station, you just have to install the Driver Station software. Go to the http://www.usfirst.org/frccontrolsystem web page and scroll down to the middle of the Software section. The “Mandatory Driver Station Update” you will find is also a “Driver Station Installer (for use on any PC)”.

So are we going to be allowed to use something other than the Classmate to drive the robot this year? Also, when does the 2011 software come out on the FIRST website?
