We want to slow the speed of one of our window/gear motors because it is too fast. we are using the motor to move a stick to bring down the bridge. we are also using a Victor as a control or possibly a Jaguar. we need help!!:ahh:
One possible thing to do is to gear it down by attaching a small gear to the output shaft of the motor, and a larger gear to the shaft of the bridge tipper. This will not only slow it down, but give you more torque to push down the bridge with. This is your best option.
If not, use software to use your jaguar/victor to control the speed. You will get the decrease of speed, however you won’t get the increase of torque, something I highly suggest you try to do.
If you have more questions, feel free to PM me.
Multiply the value you’re inputting to the Set Output VI by a number less than 1.
EDIT: or you could do what he said, that sounds better
I cant really do anything on the physical robot, it is a direct drive motor.
If your team won’t allow any more changes, change the speed via software through your jags/victors. IF you can change your robot, separate your motor from your bridge manipulator a bit, add a small gear/sprocket on the output shaft of the motor, a large one on the bridge manipulator and then add chain if necessary. If you need help with this, I’d be more than happy to provide examples on our robot.
