How to use encoder on Falcon 500

My team just got a new Falcon 500 motors and while the wiring to the power distribution panel and CAN wires are all fine, we’re not sure how to access the built-in encoder within the Falcon. We see the port where we thought we were supposed to put in extra wires, but reading the manual, vex makes it appear as though we don’t need to add anything. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

The port on the back of the falcon is for limit switches. You can read the encoder value directly over CAN, no extra wires required.
