We have all of our pneumatic system plumbed according to the rules but FRC is pretty vague on how to wire the solenoid and how to give everything power.
So a few questions:
-
How does a compressor get power in general?
-
Starting from the PDB, can you explain how the solenoid is connected?
-
Can you please explain how a solenoid and a spike relay are connected?
-
If we use a spike relay, do we still need to use the cRIO?
-
If we do need to use the cRIO, what things need to be connected to the Solenoid breakout on the NI 9472?
Thanks in advance:)
See your other post on exactly the same topic for some answers.
My team uses a spike to power the compressor because we just need it on or off so there is no need for a jag, victor, or talon.
I cant remember the exact set up off the top of my head, but ill take a look at my teams pneumatic set up tomorrow to give you the steps for wiring it.
A solenoid and a spike shouldn’t be connected. You have to connect the solenoid to the cRio using a pneumatic bumper.
Correction: Solenoids can be powered via a Spike, or the breakout. Only 24volt solenoids have to be powered via the breakout as you cannot supply 24 volts to a Spike.
