After a crazy season our team has decided to clean up and sell all of parts we don’t need anymore. I hope these massive saving can help some teams out. Selling as a package due to the amount of stuff we are trying to clear out. If you have any questions let me know. I will add more photos later on as I am still missing 4 neos, 2 vrms, and a pdb. Open to offers but should be around in the neighborhood of $7250. There is almost $11500 in hardware in this package deal. Buyer pays for shipping or local pickup around the Bay Area California.
NOTE: 3 of the neos and 1 550 neo are untested (Ones on the left) and one of the spark max doesn’t have a logic stage only a power stage (the one with x all over it) good for a replacement if one blows up. Also, some of the 775 on the gearboxes are bad too.
We are a community team that has reached a point where out mentor cannot support us with his time. Sadly we have to get rid of a bunch of our robot gear to clean up his garage.
Before you sell everything, I would suggest contacting one of the local teams in your area to see if they can help you find a new space (and mentors if needed).
Most teams who have $7k lying around are going to be more particular about what they spend that on, definitely worth breaking this up into a few different lots just to get into a more reasonable price range and to expand your likely buyer set. Many teams don’t need more wheels or gearboxes around but wouldn’t mind upgrading their motor controller collection. I’d suggest the following:
sparks & neos
control systems & ctre controllers (everything electrical that isn’t sparks & neos)
bearings gearboxes & wheels (everything mechanical)
Where is the money going if the team is folding? Feels kinda sketchy to sell off stuff that was donated / purchased with donated funds and pocket the cash so I would hope this is going to fund another team or to some non profit.
I’ll say it if no one else will: There is something wrong with this sale. Second year team losing their main mentor and selling most of their stuff due to no room? CAVEAT EMPTOR!
If your team is not going to restart in some other STEM program, it may be better to donate your parts and equipment to other rookie or low-resource teams in your area. While many of those teams don’t participate on this forum, I am sure there are people on this forum from the more established teams who do know who these teams are and may have their contact details. If sponsors find out that someone ended up pocketing the funds from such a sale, they may be less likely to donate to someone else in the future.
I should point out that 7445’s AKA on The Blue Alliance is simply “Family/Community”–no listed schools, no listed sponsors. That simultaneously says to me
Establishing who has legal ownership of the stuff may be harder from the outside, especially if the team didn’t create a legal entity to hold the team’s materials.
If we assume OP is the legal owner of all this, then it’s logical for them to sell it in this format.
I didn’t think that the community would react like this but we intend on paying back the family donations that we received. We are donating the andymark kop as well as all of the custom sheet metal brackets and parts to a local team.
Would you be willing to sell off smaller lots of components? I could certainly use some cheap wheels and bearings for a personal project, but I wouldn’t be willing to pay for the entire lot.
Folks - this post is legit, we’re near them geographically and 7445 was expected to fold in a year or two. Recovering what they can for their family donors is reasonable. (Where are all these concerns when 973 & 254 are selling limelights?)
OP - followed up in a PM
I recognize your concern about tracking the money, but I’d still break it up to the three lots Mike Schrieber suggested.
This seems like a perfectly reasonable use for the funds. Thanks for clarifying. I’ve seen sketchy stuff in the past when teams fold so I was curious - I apologize if I came off as accusatory.
I don’t think an existing team selling parts to recoup costs back into their operating budget is comparable.
Great idea, I think for now I want to keep it as one package and wait on it for awhile. If it doesn’t move, I will break it up. Because I’m the only person parting out the robot its a lot to look after. I really don’t want to mess up and forget to include something so I took the pictures and packaged up exactly what I took pictures of right after. Tracking of the funds and making sure people get exactly what they order is the most important part for me.
While we may not be able to buy the entire $7000, we are looking at buying a smaller portion of the parts, for around $1000-$1500. Would you be able to sell us the following parts (functional please)?
2 RoboRios
1 or 2 PDPs (if you have them)
1 or 2 Radios
1 or 2 VRMS
1 or 2 Main breakers
8 NEOS and spark Maxes
All the bearings (If they are 1/2" hex)
