Hey Folks,

I don’t want to alarm anyone but the slots are filling up fast for our Chief Delphi Invitational.

We are approaching double digits on our ‘checks-in-hand’ list and almost to 20 for our ‘yes-we-are-coming-but-we-are-still-working-on-our-application-please-save-us-a-slot’ list.

Two reminders:

#1 – only 24 teams will be accepted

#2 – the ‘checks-in-hand’ list is the only list that matters when it comes to the 24 teams we accept

Don’t be left out.

The game and the kit are AWESOME.

Joe J.

Oh yeah, one more thing, Did I mention that WildStang is coming?

So… rumor has it that the following teams will be there (among others):
3D Services/OTC Northeast (National Champs in 99),
Beatty/Hammond (National Champs in 97, Midwest & Great Lakes Champs in 99, 4th place at Nationals in 99),
DaimlerChrysler/OSM Tech (Midwest & Great Lakes Champs in 99, 4th place at Nationals in 99)
GM Milford Proving Ground/Huron Valley Schools (Philly Champs & 4th Place at Nationals in 99)
GM Truck Group/North Oakland Robotics (Truck Town Terror – Need I say more?)
GM Power Train/Pontiac Northern (3rd Place at Nationals in 97 AND 98)

And now WildStang is driving in from Chicago…

A high powered competition, not to be missed.

Highlights of the Chief Delphi Invitational Kit

NO MORE TOYS in 99.

In past years, many of the robots have looked like escapees from the Island of Mis-fit
Toys because nearly all the actuators came from taking a band saw to some Toys R
Us bought earth moving equipment ;-)

This year we'll have none of that: We're talking drill motor actuators (with chucks which
will help with some of the nastier interface issues), Custom Built Globe Motors,
Custom Built Seat Adjuster Motors and more.

FULL RADIO REMOTE CONTROL – NO TETHERS

‘Erector Set Simple’ Drive Train Components
Motors with 1/4 inch round output shafts
Sprockets a-plenty
Trantorques transfer torque from sprockets to shafts
Enough chain, bearings, u-joints, flexible couplings, etc. to make it interesting

Pneumatics – YES PNEUMATICS!

Bolt together construction with No Precision Machining Allowed
Only drill presses, dremels, saws, files, etc. allowed
No Lathes
No Mills
No Wire EDM’s
No Centerless Grinders, etc.
No welding

2ft X 2ft X 2ft Robots (Weight TBD, but 60lbs is a good guess)
