I am very proud to be a small part of FIRST in Michigan. I think we have some of the best minds in the industry here in Michigan, and having well over 500 teams here says pretty much everything.
However. For all of the great things FiM does and stands for, how can the live stream from events be SO terrible? It’s literally unwatchable. I can’t wrap my head around the fact that the streams are so choppy, delayed and overall terrible quality. For such fantastic backing and support from so many industries within this state, can’t FiM form a partnership/alliance with a firm that could handle this aspect of the events?
Not speaking for FiM but if the issues you are experiencing is choppy, delayed and low resolution (when you say terrible quality, this is what I am assuming) most likely this is due to the bandwidth of the internet connection. Now I would think at a high school that most would have a dedicated line available to be used but this isn’t always the case or there may be some other filters that are preventing a high quality upload.
Believe it or not, the resolution was fine, as in the quality of the image being displayed. The low quality was the video and audio being out of sync, and then yes, choppy and a lot of stuttering (delayed) feed. I hesitate to say it’s my connection, simply because this happens whether I’m at work (Comcast high speed) or at home (direct cellular) the feed is the same. I’m currently watching the Finger Lakes Regional at home with absolutely no issues. The feed is fantastic. It’s quite strange, and it’s kind of a running joke here in MI that the feeds from all venues are similar.
I’m glad they are working well for you both. It is frustrating, as I’m sure you’ve experienced bad feeds before. I haven’t had that luck again today. As a result I’ve been switching between AZ North and San Fran. Both working flawlessly. I don’t understand it.
