My team wants to test out an elevating system for the Cubes, simillar to the one GreenHorns used in their robot.
Does anyone knows how much weight can the 2X1 Single Stage Elevator from AndyMark load? I need your help guys!!
its kinda urgent
The answer depends a lot on what type of motors and gearboxes you use, how you have it counterbalanced, and how fast you want it to work. I highly recommend you watch some of the 973 RAMP videos. They show how they create a elevator, which is very similar to how one would be made using the COTS AndyMark Kit. There are a few videos over the construction and one over the motor selection.

It will easily accept the load of a single power cube or hook
It will not easily accept 140/280 or 420lb multi robot loads
Keep in mind that a single stage elevator doesn’t get high enough for the SCALE on its own. You’ll need a second stage or an arm or something.
The cubes are relatively light weight. My team used a similar 2 stage elevator setup in Overdrive for a much heavier and larger ball, and had no issues with it.
A single stage elevator can reach high enough for the SCALE if you don’t require it to bring the intake all the way to the ground.
Or if you can figure out how to make two trips.
