Hi everyone. I was just wondering, who would be in favor of having some sort of chat box/room function on CD? It’s just an idea, but i think if enough people like the idea, a request can be put in to the site administrators.
Sounds good, but like any other live public forum or chat, I’m sure there would be a lot of trash and trolling. I also am unsure how much it would get used, seeing as CD never has more than a few hundred viewers at a time (most of which are just quickly checking missed posts or pictures).
Great concept and you can count me in on beta testing!
I think it would be cool but people would REALLY have to watch the GP… and trolling… and bots… someone would need to monitor at all times…
Concerns for trolling and the need for supervision, plus the heavy bump in ‘dynamic’ traffic are the reasons I voted no. I just don’t think CD is the place to host something like this, every few years people try this and usually end up going to IRC, I’ve yet to see a better option.
Given the amount of services the CD community provide to us on a completely volunteer basis, I’m reluctant to ask them to add more stuff that can be accomplished with other systems, especially given how hard it is to keep order in a place like this. Most internet forums I know of are pretty messy, the people here do an utterly fantastic job keeping things here clear, let’s not give them more work to do
Matt
P.S. They don’t hear this enough, so to Brandon Martus and the whole CD team, thanks!
Indeed, thanks for all you do!
-Sorry if this talk makes you feel unappreciated…
These people would like one too.
Watching for graciousness in a chat room would be important also. I think you’d want to link the users talking to their CD username, so people would be able to be held accountable for what they say.
For sure a good idea though. Forums are great, but it’s nothing like having a live chat when watching a webcast.
