I’m wondering if this would change if people read the letter to vex thread
I think most people have read it, or at least a tldr of it.
Maybe tldr which is a shame because chances are thing won’t get better if people don’t vote with their money
NEOS are literally winning bruh.
They weren’t when that was posted.
They weren’t when I posted that. They were behind by a bit
After hearing about the things vex has done I don’t really want to buy anything more from them. We have a batch of falcons on order ( Since April) and we aren’t going to cancel that but from now on I personally would buy neos over falcons.
Ill take em
1678 said they aren’t going to be buying from them, at least for now. We’ll see what happens.
How many of you voting are actually the person who orders things like this?
I’m not the one actually placing the order, but the student leaders are the ones who say what they want (with some guidance from mentors) and the mentors are the ones who enforce the budget—so the choice of motor is mostly the students, which includes me.
Also, NEOs are cheaper and we already have Spark Maxes (for some reason), so that naturally biases the decision, current events notwithstanding.
Valid but @kierajreed is right though.
When I posted this a week ago Mike voted Falcon 500.
Enter IFI crimes…
I believe the NEO number is comparatively low.
Let’s find out shall we?

Not gonna lie. We’re a complete falcon ecosystem and don’t have the funds to change. We have the motors onhand for about 2.5 robots, and will probably buy a couple more because we want to keep one robot as a demo bot. The only consolation is that some of this money goes to CTRE not all to vex.
On another note, we’re already talking about what consumables we’ll be using in the future, and it won’t be Vex.
Tom we are coming to a similar conclusion as well.
We are also going to try our best to avoid vex consumables.
Falcons.
Why?
It’s quite simple: Higher Rpm, More Torque, Built-in Motor controller that is objectively better than a Spark Max. The only downsides I can see to the Falcon are that it costs more and is slightly bigger with the Talon FX attached to it.
Edit: This is not to say anything involving Vex or the stuff revolving around it. This was more based on familiarity (as Tom from 1718 said) from my experiences, having only used Falcons, this is also biased. This being said, there is definitely a lot that I don’t know about both of the motors and will take all of your comments to expand said knowledge as well as try to be less biased.
With no care for who you support?
Edit: this statement was to the tone of the original post
Persistent QC issues and a paywall on new software features.
