casinos for angry mentors
Iād be down for any location that allows for all teams to compete inside a large dome with an attached convention Center for the pits.
It should rotate bi-yearly all over North America.
Also there should only be one Championship.
Same. ABQ New Mexico might fit the bill and is a great place. Phoenix can be a bit over-warm, and I live in Raleigh so would have to be somewhere more exotic.
Iāve only been to St. Louis, but that City Museum is just a blast.
Okay Iāve concluded that anywhere is good, Iād just like to go back to worlds.

The Philadelphia Convention Center is in Center City (downtown), while all the sports stadiums are in South Philly (a 20 min drive or hour+ walk). As much as Iād love it, itās just not a good fit.
A quick check with the internet shows that Los Angeles has the LA Convention Center right next to the Staples Center. Both seem big enough to host a half-champs.
If FIRST was dead set on two events, Detroit + Vegas.
If FIRST wants to go back to 1, rotate between Atlanta, Indy, and Vegas.
Fundraising!
You can count the number of domes with attached convention centers in North America on one hand. There wonāt be much of a rotation.
And because of the rarity of these things they usually require multi-year bookings. Rotating just wouldnāt be possible.
Rumor is St. Louis is planning to knock their dome down.
The Kentucky Expo Center in Louisville, where VEX Worlds is held. Thereās an attached dome with room for 1-2 FRC fields and seating for ~18k, making it seem like a plausible venue for Einstein.
This and/or Vegas (preferably or not and)
If 18k is enough seating for Einstein, then the RiverCentre/Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul MN would be an option. The RiverCentre is a convention center that is directly connected to the Xcel Energy Center which is a hockey arena with capacity for around 20,000 people. The only issue is that the postseason for the NHL happens around the same time as champs.
FIRST seems to want a lot more than 18k for seating, with Ford Field and MMP having ~65k and ~40k seats respectively, so itās unclear. However, in a hockey arena, spectators could be sitting on three sides of the rink/floor with the fourth side being taken up for the stage. You effectively would get two long sides and one short side worth of seating. This is a fairly common setup for concerts. Compare this to a football or baseball stadium where the seating locations are a lot more limited due to the massive size of the field. In the end it may really be the same number of viable seats.
edit-we also have a great international airport that is a Delta hub.
I would say the experiment is over. A venue that can fit everyone does not mean it is actually suitable as a venue. MMP has proved this. The inevitable has been reached, where FIRST needs to experiment with a venue that canāt fit everyone but is suitable for the organization.
Which is why I think a hockey arena might be a good fit because (having been to many hockey games) I can confidently say that the compact size and dense seating would amplify the excitement of Einstein. Plus you can get a good view from pretty much anywhere. With a small rink, you donāt run into the same issues associated with sitting really far away like MMP or even Ford Field.
Except for the Michigan teams.

In all seriousness, the logistics of moving it outside of the US seems too much right nowā¦ Weāll have to grow FIRST outside of the US for that to happen.
1 Champs with 600 teams in 8 divisions at Las Vegas Convention Center, then the Einstein tournament at Las Vegas Stadium.
This is also where SkillsUSA Nationals is held. Hotels and food sources are not as plentiful as other locations, but itās manageable, and the venue works well. There is an amusement park, and plentiful parking. Flying into Louisville is expensive and not non-stop, but Nashville and Indianapolis are good alternative major airports with plenty of flights, and itās a nice drive.
I think itād be cool to have Champs at The Colorado Convention Center in Denver. Itās go more than enough room and the Pepsi Center is down the street for Einstein. Or if youāre so inclined you could put a field up in the Bellco Theater which is connected to the Convention Center. Itād be something new but it could be cool.
Only problem with Denver is almost every team attending would have to fly.
