I'm an idiot (ricksta's apology)

I’m truly sorry for all the trouble I started recently and have started in the past. I don’t try to start arguments, it just seems that way. I brag to much and post to cockily(is that even a word). Anyways from now on at least 3 members from my team will need to proofread my posts before i post them. Ralley was fun to a point and we wont completely rule out going again.

I’m especially sorry to you Brandon, giving you extra work and such.

This is my last post for at least a couple weeks so you can all rest easy knowing Ricksta121 wont be posting.

I also apologize for my last 2 post about Todd D from 88.

They were not gracious, and deleted them before the thread closed.

Thanks you guys for showing your true quality.

OK PHEW, I can finally discuss this. Yes rick you’re an idiot, I think i need to shove a permanent cookie or cheeseburger in your mouth just to shut you up.
I also apologize on behalf of team 121. Gracious professionalism should be kept above anything else in FIRST.

Thank you rick for creating this post. I’ve allready sent my apology to Brandon, and i as well would like to apologize to anyone else who was involved in this little feud. Sorry guys. Lets talk about the positive things concerning robots now.

I too am sorry for what happened…

I also apologize to a lot of people. I have created arguments in the last few weeks on the posts. If anyone ever has a problem with any of my posts, feel free to send me a message. I know that we all “jump the gun” a little on what we believe in, “Didn’t you know us robotics people are the first to start a fight” LOL. What I say is that were here to have fun, not to argue.

Good Luck to everyone at the invitationals.

I’m not sorry for anything I’ve ever said. If I said it I meant it.

wow? So you’ve never made a mistake, ever, in anything you’ve ever said? What’s your secret?

I probably regret a few things I’ve said, but seriously, dont spend too much thought on it. As human beings you grow and learn and as long as you keep an open mind about things and admit your mistakes you are OK, in my opinion. To be close minded and stubborn constantly(although one must be steadfast to some extent) is true stupidity.

I’m confused… what started all of this in the first place?

I didn’t say that. I said I wasn’t sorry for anything I’ve said. I’m not going to make a statement, and then go against myself because somebody else doesn’t like it. What you said is true, but it really doesn’t relate to what I said.

Also, I never make mistakes.

I’m guessing this thread, though I don’t see any problem with Ricksta’s comments. He has every right to say what he said. At least from what I read.

There should be forum just dedicated to those hard core arguement winners that way u can MELEE !!! ( I love that word ) and fight with it no innocent by standers getting hurt by sharp words and starbucks driven fits

hahaha even FIRST needs people that can jump the gun

Dont regret what you Say just regret what it causes

and oh yeah the forum idea hahah it was just a ramdom thought

::: Bored :::::rolleyes:

Simply put a debate shouldn’t involve a fight with anyone getting hurt … an argument should be a clearly thought out and logical statement that includes some evidence and an assumption. Not to take this too seriously, but it seems that a lot of people (here and elsewhere) can’t effectively (read intelligently) argue. Any “attack” in a debate doesn’t further your case. Ad hominem attacks are a logical fallacy. A “melee” shouldn’t describe a debate; intelligent people are perfectly capable of expressing themeselves with differing opinions and walking away unscathed. Insults or hurtful statements don’t make arguments; that you may or may not be <insert bad name here> is independent of the validity of what you say. And anyone who describes themselves as an “argument winner” is most likely someone who is more prone to repeating themselves louder and louder than making any actual point – by which I mean everyone can be wrong; usually there isn’t always a right or clear cut answer and the person that can’t understand this and just yells until someone calls him the winner is in error.

Dont regret what you Say just regret what it causes

I’m sorry (:)), but I can’t agree with you here either. Perhaps an example will help. If I make a religious statement and a person of another religion takes offense, ought I regret that? I think that if you say something you believe in you should stand behind it and not shrink away, regardless of its effects. Here’s a better example. President Clinton lied to the American people. Should he regret that he lied … or merely the fact that it caused a scandel for him (should the thief be sorry for what he did, or because he got caught).

But regret aside … I think the important thing is to learn from your past mistakes. Realize that what you say can be damaging and you should be careful with your words. That brings to mind another politically charged example  How about the dixie chicks? They seem not to regret what they said; only what it caused. To me that doesn’t seem right.

This is my last post for at least a couple weeks so you can all rest easy knowing Ricksta121 wont be posting.

Am I the only one that thinks him calling himself an idiot is a bit harsh? I read his post in the thread listed here and it didn’t sound so horrible. He wasn’t promoting the killing of babies or anything of that nature. What was so wrong with what he said?

Edit:

Well, there do seem to be a lot of posts I wasn’t aware of. So I understand where everyone was comping from… but the point still stands. Yes, I know he called himself an idiot; I can’t help but think it was due to outside motivation, however; further it was seconded by others. I just think enlightenment as opposed to insults is the path to take. But now I understand where the sentiment comes from.

Is it thought he doesn’t have a clear understanding of gracious profesionalism (from what I gather)? Well, is the solution to call him an idiot and hope he doesn’t come back? I hope not.

*(http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=160617#post160617) think it has something to do with his history of posting seemingly brash and arrogant things.

But, I do agree the solution is not to call him an idiot and ban him from the forums. He called himself an idiot, and said himself he wouldn’t post for a while, though. If you read this, Ricksta121, don’t feel shunned by these boards, just post responsibly, and you’ll make a lot of friends.

u took it to much for its face value … think about this… y wouldnt u regret wut u said ? simple hahaha cause u didnt say anything wrong cuz, cuz if u take the advice u thought ahead u knew its consequences u think before u speak u know the impact of the words so u best not say them … cause no one should regret wut they meant but they should regret wut it does to other people

simple note hahahaha dont ever be wrong … so think before YOU SPEAK

since that is way toooo hard to do all the time then lets MELEE!!!

Hey guys. You just turned someone’s apology thread into something else. That’s not cool. If you want to argue with each other, start your own thread doing that. Don’t ruin someone trying to do something right after realizing what he done is wrong.

Enough is enough.
