It is on a shaft, not welded 
looks like the one from the kit, with the steel spacers they gave in the kit

looks are deceiving because they’re not the ones from the kit
The ones from the kit don’t give enough of a reduction…2:1 just doesn’t cut it ya know

That’s not a worm gear, that’s a helical gear. Worm gears look like a big screw.
