Is anyone going to reply???

Remind me to bust Donn Griffith’s chops for misspelling y’all. (Yes, it is y’all, not ya’ll or any other butchery of the word.)
I’m very excited to see that we’ll be breaking out the robots this year. I remember the first morning show I went to (got there late, yet I still was the one interviewed) and wondering how we could explain what was going on without at least a couple of robots.
I like that we’ve got a good mix: three teams from the Lexington/Richland Counties area (1293, 1398, 1959), two more from around the state (845, 1758), and the road trippers (818). Throw in a reasonable balance of robot abilities (or so I imagine), and I think we’ll have a grand time showing Columbia how we operate.
(The funny thing is that we’re supposed to be there at 4:30. The team social ends at 8:30. Did somebody say sixteen-hour day? )
Well as the only “Road Trippers there” they either will really pay attention to us or won’t care about us.
Tomasz Bania
Only sixteen hours? That still leaves 8 for sleep, what’s the problem?? Oh, you can’t sleep during the social - well, that’s what Sunday’s for…
Seriously, congratulations to all the teams, not only is it a chance to be mildly famous, it’s a great opportunity to get out the message of FIRST, maybe bring in some of the locals to watch.
Team 1676 just can’t wait to be there!!
Don
Well, I figure that 4:30 show time will mean a 3:30 AM wakeup, minimum, to wake up, get so fresh and so clean clean, get dressed (in the dark, yay for roommates), hopefully squeeze in a check of ChiefDelphi and my email, and drag my way out to my car for the half-mile drive to the Colonial Center. To get the ideal eight hours of sleep, I’d need to be in bed at 7:30 PM on Thursday. And the pits are still open then.
Ah well, I can sleep when I’m dead. (Or famous. Or both.
)
Who is this Donn Griffith? Is he a team leader? Isn’t he on one of the Upstate teams? Is he from the south? Does he have a beard and gets extremely excited about FIRST and FIRST robotics? I can’t seem to remember him, Bilfred, can you help?
I am very angry right now as I had to make a new account to post this and someone wrote some non Graciously-Professional comments as my Sig. Please do not interpret any comments made my micro3000x as mine until further notice. I e-mailed (Webmaster) of this situation as someone besides me accessed my accout. I know who it was, and he doesn’t like how I handled FSN at the Detorit Regional. Yes, (NICK PANNUTO) did most of the work on setting-up and maintaining FSN with (Billy Linndeman) and the fact is that I never said that I did everything!
Back on topic…
I hope that this will be availabl;e on the web as almost every teacher at my school wants to see it.
Thank You,
Tomasz Bania
In order…
- A man of many hats. First met him at FVC Orangeburg when he had his FIRST Staff hat (er, shirt) on…then a couple weeks later I met him with his USC hat (er, door) on (er, open). I haven’t asked how many comments he’s gotten about the Clemson University diploma on the wall.
- Well, there was that resolution from New Hampshire congratulating some team on their Chairman’s win…can’t remember the number though. Metal in Emoticon, perhaps?
- Nope–seems to be firmly planted on Team 0000 at the time. Although that resolution seems to indicate he might’ve been on one of those crazy Upstate teams in the past.
- Yes.
- Excessively so.
If you still don’t remember him, I’ll see about flagging him down at Palmetto for 'ya.
Some people say he is a myth, somewhat like the yeti, but early reports put Donn in the vicinity of local VEX competitions. Be on the look out, he is known for his penchant to high-fiving, be careful if you engage him in one of these high-fives, your hand may be taken off at the wrist.
Yes. Now I know who he is. Actually, he is the former Project Co-ordinator for my home team Metal In Motion. We certainly miss him here at Team 343. The “Old Rust” from the guy who took his place last year did not come close to the entheusiasm and expertise that Donn had.
This year, with a new Project Co-ordinator, and the “rust removed” things are getting back to normal for Metal In Motion.
I can hardly wait for the Palmetto Regional and seeing old friends, meeting new teams and their members and having a great time.
Good luck to everyone this season.
Billfred, thanks for your many posts concerning the Palmetto Regional.
2 more hours, workin on coffee.
C-ya in 2.
