In Memory of John Tal Webb

John passed away last week and a funeral was held in his honor on Sunday (March 4th 2012). I would like everyone to remember him as a great mentor, leader, and a great family member to many.

His ongoing spirit of FIRST still shines today.

Thank you Tori for posting this.

My grandfather Tal was an incredibly kind, wise, and accomplished man. He worked on every American manned space program and served as a FIRST judge alongside his wife Nina, for as many years as I can remember. He was a lifetime member of the ASME old guard and a proud FIRSTer.
He was always involved in my education, coming in to class to talk about the space program or regaling me with stories from his career. He is the reason I am involved in FIRST today. When I was 12 years old he took me along as a field reset volunteer to the 2002 world championships at EPCOT. I was hooked instantly. I don’t know what my life would be like if he had not inspired me as he has inspired so many others.

Team 256 is heartbroken for everyone’s loss. We, too, feel the pain of loosing a well-known FIRSTer. Though we never got the pleasure of knowing John, we know for sure he was a large benefactor to the FIRST community.

John Tal Webb will be greatly missed. Our prayers are with his family, and everyone who knew him.

He had such a great life! He will be missed.

Pass my condolences and love to you and your family (Wendy in particular) on behalf of my team. Luv you guys.
