I am part of Cyberblue234 and we are one of the three team that is hosting this (super-dellic) event. I was just curious to see how many team members of any team attending plan on entering the talent contest.
I know some would not like to ruin any surprise but would anybody mind informing all of us what they plan on doing. You can always give hints to make it better.
Yes! awesome thread, a reminder to anyone who wants to do an act for the talent show must submit it by July 10th to [email protected]
Please include your name, number of people in your group, team affiliation, what your act is, approx. runtime, and any special equipment you will require such as microphones or music.
the pink team is also passing on their previous talent show entry, the nose pipes (for those that remember) but we will have a new team talent this year!
It would be nice to see something with a rhinestone theme in it.
Glitter, pizzazzâŚyou know -
Canât help but think of some of 1902âs safety glasses. Some of those were decorated with pink rhinestones, if I recall.
some of the spirit group decided to set up a âbling your safety glassâ station in vegas. thought it was the best place for the glitz and bling. seemed to be a hit with the teams, judges and even refs. they set up another bling day in atlanta on thursday. my safety glasses will never be mistaken for someone elses, way too cool
Pinkâs (I think) all-girls Vex team âpimped outâ my glasses, and then proceeded to answer a lot of questions I had about FVC, but before that they fought over who was going to talk to me.
I was at the I.R.I two years ago as a VEX student, but I donât remember the talent show all that well. Do people do basically anything? Whatâs it like?
singers (very good, and very bad)
pianists
unicyclists with a dancing FISH BOY
a master of the bull whip
an expert banjo picker
poets
rappers
community tooth brushers (aka: water conservationists),
contortionists
bands (yes, the DS&K band got their start at the 2004 IRI)
skits
upside-down Mt. Dew chugging
comedians
My wife and kids look forward to seeing the IRI talent show each year. It is a fun, family show that gives people a chance to see the other talents FIRSTers have.
However⌠you canât just get up on stage and go. You gotta go through an approval process, managed by Ryan Dognaux. Check out his post earlier in this thread for detail of how to apply.
All contestants must take heed, as there is a judging panel, armed with white boards. Sometimes, the judges can get a bit harsh. For instance, last yearâs introduction of FISH BOY was a tough act to follow. If someone in a later act was not so good, the judges wrote âbring back FISH BOYâ.
This yearâs IRI talent show should be the best yet. I canât wait!
Andy, donât forget that youâve had unicyclists without the fishboy too in 2004
980âs âwater conservationâ act in 2004 is still, by far, my favorite IRI talent show act.
You will probably end up hearing the Great and Fantastic Singing-Sensation Mike Harrison if you go to IRI this year. What he is singing he is not sure yet, or whether or not it will be serious (yes, he can sing âwellâ if he wants to). Just thought Iâd let you guys get pumped for him. Another thing you guys should know about him is that he likes to refer to himself in the third person.
If Amrit does his dance, I would seriously die of laughter but he is good. If he does it then he better wear that blue hat he brought in N.Y⌠(i think it was from N.Y.)
