We are trying to make our intake wheels stick better. I remember talking to some bigger teams and they talked about a chemical they would wipe on their intake wheels before a match witch made them tacky. Anyone have any ideas. We are running the blue andymark 4" soft wheels.
Acetone if the wheels are anything similar to what a bunch of teams were running in 2015.
To make them stick better, definitely rub some acetone on before a match. If it’s a last-second thing and you cannot manage to get acetone for some reason, try wrapping the wheels with a few layers of electrical tape

We’ve had good success with this method of converting HTD pulleys to intake wheels. Urethane tubing is ultra grippy and has worked well for our intakes in 2015, 16, and 17. We’re using 1" ID/2" OD urethane tubing on thin wall aluminum tube stock for our intake and feeder rollers this year. We use 40A durometer.
Acetone works the best for cleaning intake rollers between matches, but in a 70% or higher rubbing alcohol works as well. Really helps rollers get back to that “like new” grippiness. Either solution is cheap and definitely a must-have for our pre-match check list. Just take the necessary precautions to keep alcohol or acetone away from potential fire sources - sparks, open flames, etc.
We’ve also been seeing quite a bit of ball delamination on wheels. If you have some yellow ball buildup on your rollers, I recommend hitting them with a bit of sand paper to remove the buildup before cleaning them with acetone.
We used a 4 inch diameter open cell foam roller, it seems to work well. https://www.mcmaster.com/#polyurethane-foam-rods/=16nfgp9
We use the black 4" Compliant Wheels on our shooter, and we took a wire brush to them to clean off the crud that accumulates on them from fuel. I’m not sure that’s been tested thoroughly on blues, but if you’ve got the one that’s so caked up it’s useless you’re kinda playing with house money here.

We are using the 35A White Conveyor Wheels and even after shooting hundreds of fuel their is no build up of anything on the wheels.
Try wrapping them with vet tape. One panther to another.
