There’s a general overview article at linuxdevices.com about current non-traditional robotics and Intel’s hardware designed for them. Would be a nice RC for FIRST - linux, 802.11, real computing power…
we’ve been half jokingly (well, completely out of our minds) calling for more power, on the order of an old laptop, to run linux and have a real computer. 802.11b for control, plenty of computing power, hell, anything you could want.
the only problem, i would NEVER put a standard hard drive on a laptop. however, i’ve always liked compact flash cards (how do you think an iPOD works?).
it’ll be interesting to see how this plays out. i for one would welcome any change (Dave, Dean, Woodie, FIRST in general, IFI, any others that are working on next year’s game ;)). Hehe, and my friends all told me it was dumb to learn linux…
