So I guess this is mostly for Georgia teams, but I hope some people from Reno or San Jose read this as well…
Sorry for the late notice, but I’ve been trying to figure stuff out with my own team and I was hesitant about posting this, but basically, Atlanta will be hosting the International Science and Engineering Fair this year at the Georgia World Congress Center! (May 11-16, 15 and 16 entirely open to public, Exhibition Hall B if anyone wants to go)
ISEF…over 47 countries (countries like Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Korea, Hungary, Estonia,) 10000 visitors, 1500 high school age people competing for about 4 million dollars in scholarships, 4000 local visiting schoolchildren, etc. It’s a great chance for outreach that would sound really good, so good luck to anybody who wants to try and get a booth for FIRST next year in Reno or the year after that in San Jose!
I tried to get a booth dedicated to FIRST that would be open to all the Georgia teams to talk to passersby, but that didn’t really work…as it is, there is a “general science table” that 500 FIRST brochures (along with team 2415 business cards if any visitors find it interesting and want to start their own team). We’re not allowed to actually have someone stand around to answer any questions, but there’s nothing that says we can’t go around and subtly (or not so subtly) mention FIRST to people or you can legitimately walk around and see the awesome exhibits.
