I’m here for my team, the Lightning Lancers, to introduce a brand-new WordPress theme that we’re giving away to all FRC teams out there for free. We call it Artificial Intelligence. You could call it a late Christmas present.
Artificial Intelligence wants to take your team’s website and give it superpowers.
Key Features
Grab the attention of visitors and spread the mission of FIRST with a super awesome homepage. Put your photos up front and center for the world to see.
Showcases take the photos-first thing to a whole new level, enabling you to build gorgeous pages and embark on advertising like only Apple has. Go ahead, brag about your robot or praise your sponsors. Nothing’s stopping you.
What would a WordPress theme be without a blog? We’ve spent hours crafting perfect typography to make reading as comfortable as possible, ensuring that you can keep old readers as well as you make new ones.
With its built-in Skin API, AI is incredibly easy to customize to fit your team’s branding. Use one of the default skins, or build your own with a config file.
AI is made to be easily usable on smartphones, tablets, laptops, and desktops alike. Reach everyone, no matter what device they use.
It’s free. Doesn’t get any better than that, right?
And we’re adding more stuff as fast as we can. Expect more awesome things coming soon!
Sound good? You can grab it right now from the GitHub repo. Or, you can check out our blog post, which has a whole lot more information.
If you want to help develop AI, just fork it and submit a pull request. We have somewhat of a roadmap, but we’re always open to new ideas.
Additionally, we have an open wiki at the GitHub repo with training on how to deploy and fully utilize AI’s features.
A belated Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone! Enjoy AI!
This looks awesome so, I tried to install it on a local WordPress instance. I uploaded the theme, but I just got a page that says “Are you sure you want to do this?” I am doing something wrong, or is this a problem with the theme?
Did you download the distribution release? The theme has dependencies that aren’t bundled except in distribution. Go to Releases and click the big green button. That was my bad; I should’ve made that clearer.
Also (and this shouldn’t be much of a requirement), it requires PHP 5.2. Most hosts have it as their default option. I found that out the hard way when I used some new syntax, not knowing it was only available in PHP 5.4+, and crashed our site while it was live, lol. I very quickly reverted to the older syntax.
I did use the latest release, but I discovered that my server has PHP version 5.5. The version must be the problem, but I am using WAMP which shows no easy by to downgrade.
