FRC Team 10131 and FTC Team 23070 Royal Turtles from Hong Kong are proud to present BaseBot! With a budget of $700, we set out to create an affordable, simple, and competitive robot to increase accessibility to FTC, especially in regions outside the US.
Preview Video of BaseBot
BaseBot is designed to utilize widely available components such as aluminium extrusion/profiles from hardware stores, common tools, and 3D printed or laser-cut parts.
For the past year, we have been on a mission to increase FTC participation among schools across Hong Kong, China, and Southeast Asia. To ensure that FTC is accessible to teams in regions like ours, and that they have a path to qualify for World Championships. While doing so, we received feedback from schools and potential teams citing the difficulties in purchasing parts due to high shipping costs and international procurement limitations.
The mission of BaseBot is to provide a “Base” for each team to field a competitive FTC robot with minimal and local resources. Whether you’re using BaseBot as a training tool or building your first FTC competition robot, we hope that it will inspire teams and students to build upon this “Base” design - because every great creation starts with a solid “Base”!
BaseBot is able to
- Intake Samples and Specimens from the floor or inside the Submersible
- Score Samples into the High or Low Basket
- Score Specimens onto the High or Low Chamber
- Ascent to Level 2
- Park in the Observation Zone
