Hello Chief Delphi Community!
I am thrilled to announce the initial launch of mission4stem.com, a 100% free, open-source education platform where courses are designed for students, by students.
I’m a current mentor and alum of FRC 1923. A big part of our team’s ethos is giving back to the community in the form of knowledge, and a big part of this effort is creating foundational content for new and veteran students within our team to effectively prepare them for the upcoming competition season. Back when I was a student, I worked on an initial set of 15 programming tutorial videos for programming students to watch throughout the year. This made me fall in love with teaching students (especially from a student perspective), and after completing a year of school at Georgia Tech, I was ready to create a learning platform that could reach a broader community.
My goal for mission4stem is to offer introductory and advanced college-level courses to the public, focusing on creating interactive lessons especially for engineering and CS topics. Each course is uniquely structured to offer the perfect blend of theory and application - I’ve always believed that the only true way to learn something is by doing, so each course on mission4stem will be paired with some cool projects for students to work on, with lessons supporting students along the way for each project.
While mission4stem is launching today, I have numerous future plans of bringing valuable features to create as interactive of an experience as possible. Currently, we have 2 courses in Arduino and FRC Programming (Ch. 1 - 4), and are continuously working on new courses that will be published in the future.
My hope with this website is to showcase the power of unity within broader educational communities, where students work together alongside other students in BOTH teaching and learning capacities. I’m always open to feedback and future changes, so feel free to leave feedback or anything that you’d like to see added.
Thank you all for the time! I look forward to seeing where mission4stem will take me (and my fellow peers) in the future.
