Introducing THE Marinators (5760)

We are team 5760, a ‘new’ returning team, Marina HS from Marina California (Monterey County) Our team was started in 2015, but failed to compete at SVR that year. So we are a “New” returning team. I think a 10 year hiatus must be unique. None of the students or lead teacher mentor has FRC experience, though our team captain (and driving force for our return) has been involved in MATE. So while we are a ‘veteran’ in reality we are rookie minus, since we don’t get the minimum rookie kit. Fortunately, our generous sponsoring team (Plus Ultra 7413) is providing workspace, expertise, and spare parts.

We were able to get our kit chassis built by Sunday. I will keep you informed of our progress.

Well, we have finished the mechanical portion of the kitbot, not with some detours.
The student and Teacher mentor, along with teams assisting us, assembled the Andy Mark chassis, without reading the directions. as a result we were 8 inches too big. this involved disassembly, cutting and re-assembly. we also cut a lexan belly pan that was too wide.

We also tried to put omni wheels on the front but these were for hex-shaft.

Lots of teams donated motors, gear boxes, a limelight, so we are in good shape supply wise.

I think Micky Mantle said: “It is amazing how much you don’t know about a game you’ve played your entire life.”
