Inventor Slow to Open

I installed Inventor sometime in the last week and every time I try to run it, it takes somewhere in the realm of 20 minutes to actually start up and show the “Open” dialogue.

It runs perfectly, its just a hassle to have to wait.
I’m running an Inspiron 1721
AMD Turion 64 X2 1.8GHz
ATI Radeon X1270
2GB RAM + a 2GB flash drive with ReadyBoost

Anyone else come across this issue?
Any ideas?

What OS are you running? I’ve heard of people having problems with Vista, and while a more marginal difference, I’ve also heard that using the Classic scheme on XP makes Inventor run faster than if you’re using the XP scheme.

I’m running XP in classic on an old 2.4 P4 with 512mb ram, and a two year old 300gb sata drive, and a generic ATI video card.

After a reboot, Inventor opens in about 75 seconds, and loads the partial model of the robot in about 20 more seconds.

Sounds like somethings wrong somewhere with your setup…although I can’t begin to imagine what it might be.

I have very little stuff running in the background on my machine (except for that .NET stuff that Inventor requires)

yea I’m running Vista Home Premium…I’ll turn off Aero and see what happens…

I also recommend running the “Add-in Manager” and turn off anything that you are not using. This can help considerably with initial start-up times.

also right click on the inventor shortcut and go to properties
hit the compatibility tab. click in the run as admin. Inventor and vista have problems when not run on admin

I run Inventor fine on Vista, and it definitely doesn’t take 20 mins to open. Its more in the realm of 90 secs.

Inventor is a great program:cool:

I would recommend a spy ware search, defragmenting your computer and using the task manager to shut down all background programs. If that doesn’t work something may be seriously wrong.
