This question has been buggin us for a while and I can’t find the thread it was discussed in…
We have several different ideas for the hybrid mode and use of the IR sensor. One set of commands drives around the track, another gets the ball down from the rack, etc.
We understand you can’t switch between them with dip-switches, but what about if we reload a different IR commandset between matches? Can we just have a couple different 3x5 cards? Or do we have to stick with the commands we first give the inspector?
If we cannot do that, does that mean we are stuck with one IR commandset the entire competition? That would mean that if we perfect one IR commandset during the tournament, we are stuck with the original one we gave the inspector.
Anyway, can anone clear up these questions? Thanks in advance.
There is absolutely nothing saying that you can’t have multiple hybrid modes. Just make sure you have the right card for the mode you are running showing.
Actually, you can use switches on the robot to help control hybrid mode. It’s been ruled several times by the GDC in the Q&A that your hybrid mode can use any and all sensors on the robot to influence hybrid mode, which includes dip switches. So long as your command list on the card matches what you’re doing that round, it’s not a problem.
