Well, it seems like everyone wants to link up their promotional activities with the IRI. What will be next, I wonder.
For all of you Harry Potter Fans, HP7 “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” will be available at 12:01 AM on Saturday, July 21. There are two large bookstores near the IRI site - they are listed below.

Oy vey… That’s pretty much all I have to say… oy vey. I guess this makes sense. “You can still attend IRI and NOT miss getting your copy of Harry Potter!” Truely nerdy.
Haha, its really funny actually: we were having a meeting today and I asked my mentor if we’d be able to attend a midnight HP party. I mean hey, we have a 5 hour plane ride back, might as well have Harry Potter 7 for it :]
I wouldn’t mind picking up a copy in Indianapolis as a souvenir.
It would be a great read after a great competition and a lot of fun. Nerdy is when you’ve read each book 3 times cover to cover. I’ve done that.
Let it be known that if anyone should ruin the ending for me, (the way the 6th book was) public beatings will ensue. I am sure I’m not alone in this feeling.
Don’t ruin what remains of my childhood.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
I think you need a button for Saturday, that says “If you tell me a Harry Potter spoiler, I’ll go Avada Kedavra on your forehead”.
… like someone on a FIRST team at IRI is gonna read 700 pages within one day, while only one of the best groupings of FIRST teams has ever been assembled.
Is Evelyn Wood coming to IRI?
Yeah, yeah… someone can skip ahead. You need the button.
Because I don’t like Harry Potter, I’ll wear a button that says “Ask me for the ending.” Then I’ll randomly pick an ending from a deck of cards, with only one being the real one… then you must guess if it’s true or false… Evil laugh ensues and I’ll gladly take any beating by a FIRST student/mentor.
Haha… JK! I’m taking Lacey to see the movie on Sunday, against my will. Her birthday present…
Otakon, held in Baltimore, is the largest anime convention on the East Coast (second largest in the country) and is being held the same weekend as IRI. Easily at least 10,000 people attend Otakon each year.
I wonder what all the book stores in Baltimore will be like…
I have a friend who will be at Otakon. I don’t know if she’s a big enough fan to go camp the bookstores for the final Harry Potter book.
I don’t know what is nerdier. Otakon and Harry Potter or IRI and Harry Potter.
This will be one of the nerdiest weekends in the history of the world. And I’m taking part in it! (yay!)
Apparently people were yelling the ending of the new movie out at the theaters across America and it made a lot of people mad. I thought it was funny, because the book has the “secret” ending in it as well so if you read the book nothing would have been new.
People get too hyped up on the smallest things these days…
On another note, is there an AMC Theater in Indianapolis? They are the only ones (at least in my area) that have shows starting up to midnight. Maybe there is a good movie out that Friday or Saturday?!?
I got word last night that Book People here in Austin is building a Hogwarts in their parking lot. They needed hay bales - that’s why I know this…and I won’t be here, I’ll be at IRI.
I don’t know which is nerdier - but I know IRI is the coolest. Absolutely. I know this because I’m going to miss Hogwarts and Book People and it’s ok, I’ll be at IRI.
And I have always read the ending before the beginning of a book. Since I was little. I don’t recommend it to anyone, but it works for me.
Yes, or you could use my method and not pick up the first book until the final book’s publication date was announced. I did the same with Stephen Kings “Dark Tower” series because I was warned no ending could drive you mad when you start reading it, I read the final book in 2 days cause I couldn’t put it down.
I’m expecting to be on Book 4 or 5 by IRI as I read the first 2.5 last week.
