Hey everybody
We (WildStang engineers) are in the process of creating the human player competition for IRI.
Before I continue, I want to make it clear that our students have no knowledge of the game.
The game is still being finalized, so here’s how things are going to work as of now (subject to change).
There will be registration for the competition Friday. Keep your ears open for information on when and where registration will be held. Registration will be open to all teams competing in the IRI competition. There may be only one entry per team.
Once registration is closed on Friday, each player will be given a written description of the game.
The competition will be held Saturday between the alliance selection and the elimination matches.
Due to time constraints, the format will be one match per person. If time permits, we will have an elimination tournament based on the qualification scores.
Hopefully we’ve designed this game in such a way that everybody will have a great time!
Dave
So, only one person per team may enter, right? I just wanna make sure this is correct.
My team isn’t going, I’m the only one going… can I still participate, because I REALLY would love to
Yes, as clarification, only one person per team may enter. I don’t know if there are teams with multiple robot entries, but there may still only be one entry for that team.
At this point, Mike, we are only allowing teams with robot entries to compete. We are a little tight on time. If for some reason we find that there aren’t as many people interested as we thought there’d be, we may open up the registration to noncompeting teams.
Dave
What about opening it up to referees? Hehe… I’ll probably be too busy, though…
In the circumstance that we don’t hear any anoouncements, should teams interested come to you’re pit for more info?

somebody will make an announcement over the PA system, because i dont think Wildstang will want 47 extra kids all rushing to their pits :]
Thanks David!
We will definately make sure that enough announcements are made. I know that it gets hard to listen to the announcements in the heat of the moment.
Once we get settled in our pit on Friday, we will figure out the timing for the registration. Most likely it will be in the afternoon between the time we get there and the time the competition finishes (hmm… I guess that’s not too specific :p)
