IRI - Updates for 2022!

There are several new updates on the IRI website.

We are adding 3 SCHOLARSHIPS for 2022 Graduating Seniors. Please see the website for the details on the application process - it is different for 2022!

We are awarding the IRI Mentor of the Year for 2022. Details on the nomination essay are on the website.

The 2022 IRI Charity is the Riley Children’s Hospital program for Mental Health and Behavioral Health program to support young people in need of these services. We invite you to bring items for the auction and bid high for this great program.

Will first picks be allowed within the top 8? Didn’t see that in the update.

If it’s not included in the updates, then you defer to the existing rules for the game, which fully allow this.

Is there a limit on how many mentors a team can submit for the “mentor of the year award”? I see we can submit a mentor for the award, but it doesn’t specify how many mentors.

Are there any plans for evening entertainment on saturday? mentor matches or otherwise? I saw the dinner was not included so this may make things more complicated.

Drafting 1-8, 1-8, 8-1 with first picks within top 8 sounds a bit uneven.

With how competitive and deep IRI usually is (and is intended to be), doing normal snake draft might actually hurt the 1 seed alliance which is why they do 1-8, 1-8, 8-1. Banning picks within the top 8 would disincentivize trying to make top 8 if you are on the fringe.

It’s IRI tradition.

Lol, okay. Tradition it is.

Zebra tags? It was so cool to see the commentators using the Zebra tag data to discuss team and alliance strategy in the past. Would love to see that again this year.

Most have been answered correctly. There is no limit on how many mentors you can nominate, however you could hurt your first choice if you have multiple from your team. Right now there is no evening entertainment planned.

we were not able to make the arrangements and get schedules aligned for the Zebra tags. We all agree it was very cool and hope we can make it work for 2023.

Will the competition field be open for calibration on Saturday morning before qualification matches or only Friday evening?

@Chris_Fultz Are there tickets needed for spectators? I don’t see anything on the website.

This event is free to the public.

You missed an opportunity - you could have said every spectator had to buy raffle tickets.

Ha, well we are well supported at the moment! I just want everyone to come and have a great time! I so excited to see all the teams and meet new people. It’s going to be wonderful!
