Hello,
I have looked on Limelight’s website and haven’t found any 2024 release for Limelight OS.
Does anyone have an estimation as to when Limelight will release its 2024 version?
Thanks in advance,
Niran Schneller.

Yes, I am interested in this as well. Is 2024 LimeLight release required to work with this season’s game? If 2024 release is out, I will certainly upgrade to it. But in the meantime, can 2023 release at least detect AprilTag (unless it’s a different AprilTag family)? It doesn’t seem working. In theory, since 2023 also supports color blob pipeline, there is no reason why I can’t tune a pipeline to detect the orange ring, right?
@Brandon_Hjelstrom can we get some updates please!
From reading the Limelight docs it looks like Limelight supports the 36h11 family which is used this year, so I don’t sea any technical reason it won’t work. Color detection should also work fine.
I am curious though if a Note model for the ML recognition will be released.
You can give this unofficial fmap a shot.
I feel like limelight is now such an important part of the first ecosystem they should be part of the select vendors who get advanced access. Though Brandon would have to step back from the High Rollers
The limelight is configurable for multiple tag types, sizes, and field layouts so the 2023 images work for the 2024 tags already. On the standard tab you can select 36h11 as the tag type and update the size to 165.1.
People are not given early access to the game to develop new products or refine existing products. A very limited number of vendors are given early and I would imagine often very limited access to specific parts of the game so that they can fulfill an imperative need, not to allow them to better sell products intended to help teams solve a game challenge.
I completely disagree with this. This is an incredibly slippery slope.
Thanks for doing this. Does your fmap also fail to import into the Map Builder Tool couldn’t tell if I copied or formatted something wrong.
Will try this on an actual Limelight ASAP.
That may be my bad. Didn’t realize i could upload a ZIP of it. Here is the original with proper formatting. Worked for me when uploading the map: Crescendo AprilTag Map - #10 by KH987
We have tried the unofficial fmap on a limelight,
can confirm it works!
I just tried our LimeLight3 with 2023.6.0 image. But it did not detect the AprilTag. I can’t find where you can select the AprilTag family nor to set the tag size. Here is a screen shot.
Pretty sure its under “Standard” tab.
edit: under tag family in the standard tab. See link below for screenshot showing the option.
Has anyone heard anything on this release?
@moderators is it possible to rename this title to “Is there a 2024 Limelight Release?” (Or something), i keep getting emotionally triggered when i see that there may be a release when its just folks asking about it.
Also: Does someone know if the Limelight is compatible with the NetworkTables v4?
Everything should remain compatible (that was one of the NT v4 goals) but the Limelight, as of last year, didn’t use the new NT4 features. We shall see when released what it has this year.
If update there is…
I probably should have though of a less clickbaity title…
I apologize for the confusion.
Why? There are multiple mentors that get advanced noticed because they are deeply involved in FIRST or are on the game design comittee. I understood at one time there were specific rules around when they could start helping their team. But it doesn’t require them to remove themselves from teams.
