If the person weighs less than 120 pounds, than maybe.
In all seriousness, I’d say no. The point is to stop building at Midnight, not just to have it bagged and tagged.
You know, back before Bag and Tag we tried to ship a student in the crate along with the robot… We even almost made it under the weight limit! It definitely helped that she could stand up inside the crate with room to spare.
5.2. Stop Build Day
All teams must cease work on their robot on or before Stop Build Day [emphasis mine]. Any team that fails to comply may jeopardize their participation in the rest of the FRC season.
I don’t think it can be any clearer.::rtm::
Isn’t that a violation of the warning on the plastic bag - the one that says it isn’t a toy and should be kept away from children??
I don’t think there is a limit on the bagged content regarding weight or biology that is imposed by FIRST. The bags are big, but putting a machine shop inside would be a literal stretch. Then there’s the support of your contained crew. NASA may have some hints about that. They would certainly be interested in a device that enables long-term bag habitation, even if it was not part of an actual FIRST robot. Feeding and breathing through small tubes that could pass through the bag’s “neck” gather under the seal ziptie would also be a large turn off. Dr. Flush (of Hamilton Sunstrand) would also have some commentary about the most frequent question concerning space station life.
Cute idea for a picture though. I’m already trying to think of a caption for it in case it makes it to a contest.
Air holes are strictly forbidden.
I registered just to say this:
@MathMaven: If you honestly think that stuffing a student into a bag is reasonable and our best way forward, then you’d better get your head checked. Sorry, I guess some people just don’t get jokes.
In any event, while there are teams out there who do not observe the ‘wrenches down’ rule, our 'bot is bagged, tagged, and ready to go. Best of luck to everyone this year! I’m looking forward to the competitions.
I was thinking ‘We’re outta time! I’m going in… see you guys at GTR!’
We discussed putting all the students in the bag and keeping the robot out. Work would be stopped. Same effect, right?
I think an oxygen tank would fix that problem
We tried something similar. We are using KOP fans to keep the student ventilated. Nice to finally to find something to do with them. The problem is we forgot to put food in with him. Is it legal to unseal the bag to put food in? Maybe on humanitarian grounds?
Stop the fans for a bit and squeeze some PBJ thru the blades. Be careful starting the fans again.
Sounds messy. Go with an all-liquid diet, as though they had just had their wisdom teeth pulled - you can run a straw through the fans when they’re off.
Am I the only one who thought of what that bag will look and smell like after however long it is until your competition?:ahh:
EDIT: Think about it. There are some things nobody could go without doing…
Never mind. His mom just ripped the bag open. Something about missing too much school to work on the @#$@#@$!$#@$ robot. Learned some new words today. Plus she suggested something I don’t think is physically possible to do with a robot. Anyway is duct tape legal to seal the bag back up?
I think you need to stick a second student in there so the bag can be sealed up from the inside. Otherwise the inspectors might think you were trying to cheat!
omg i cant believe this was actually posted this ! good times !
lol last night was awesome!!! cant wait to do it again next year
Haha, yeah, we took that into consideration. But don’t worry our buddy there is safe and sound.
