Is the Hitec HS-805MG OK for use in FRC? I saw the nylon gear version on AndyMark; however the stall current is 6 Amps.
If not, what would be a good alternative? We are looking to use it to move a deflector shield made of polycarbonate to alter the vertical shooting angle of our turret.
It’s a PWM servo, it’s <$75. Therefore, per LEGALITY, it’s OK. BUT…
“For servos, note that the roboRIO is limited to a max current output of 2.2A on the 6V rail (12.4W of electrical input power). Teams should make sure that their total servo power usage remains below this limit at all times.” (From the Blue Box with R27)
So, if you can keep that current down low, great. If not, you’re probably better off with one of the lower-power motors from the rest of R27.
3468 used one of the REV Servo Power Modules linked by @Peter_Johnson last year with great results, its really just a voltage regulator and injector system, and it works great.
