Do you mean Human players throwing algae into the net or robots shooting algae up there? I assumed the latter as our team will for sure have the HP throw all algae into the net.
As for shooting, the point values are the same for the HP making it and the robot making it, however if the robot does it this bypasses the processor, giving you a net 4 points instead of a net 2. I see why you may want to do this after a lot of discussion my team and I have settled on not shooting directly into the net.
There is a semi-related thread found here
the robot throwing the algae is what i meant.
I know there’s another similar thread somewhat discussing this, but this thread also seems appropriate. Why are teams not planning to shoot algae into the cargo net?
Every game is a shooter game.
I hope shooting algae doesn’t end up being good because we are completely ignoring it in favor of L4 coral
We personally think it’s too hard of a shot and not worth designing for in favor of the other elements.
We’re debating about processing cargo even tho it affords the other alliance opportunities to shoot, but we’re leaning towards going for it because of human player accuracy, net space, and the coopertition bonus.
also even with hp accuracy, they’ll run out of space up there eventually. load that processor up and get those points
I mean…
haters will say its fake
We modeled it in CAD and you can physically fit 15 algae up there but realistically it can only hold upwards of 6-7 I believe. The 15 is achieved by wedging them in which wouldn’t happen in a match.
It’ll also get increasingly harder to make the shots so the point bonus is nice.

I’ve been curious to wonder how many teams actually plan on shooting despite it being nearly useless in this years game. I don’t see why teams would score only four points when they can have a guaranteed net of 2 and possibly 6 points with scoring in the processor. I think shooting is useless this year, but I’m curious to hear more opinions.
“Shooting” and scoring in the high net are different things. There’s plenty of reasons to score in the net for combined cycles, but actually shooting into the net is likely to be hard due to bounceout, but would be even faster if teams could figure out how to make it work.
