Unfortunately, we’ve been having issues with our limelight recently. We connected our Limelight to our laptop directly via ethernet in order to work with the Web Dashboard and create a pipeline for the 2020 game. Initially, it was working fine. However, later it started having issues and disconnecting randomly, and now it won’t connect anymore. When we go to limelight.local:5801 we get DNS name not resolved. We have read many threads on chief Delphi in order to troubleshoot this, as well as going to the Limelight site and reading through their docs. Here’s what we have tried:
Ensuring the Bonjour Drivers are installed Properly
Using the Limelight Finder tool to search for our limelight (No limelights are found)
Using Angry IP scanner in order to try to find the IP address for our limelight (no results are found)
Reflashing the Limelight and trying again
Unfortunately, we don’t know what to do at the moment. It was working perfectly fine before, and now it’s having these issues all of a sudden. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
According to the instructions, there is a push button on the limelight they can be used to reset your IP address.
How do I reset the IP address?
After your Limelight has booted, hold the config button on the front face of the camera until the LEDs start blinking. Power-cycle your robot, and your Limelight will have an automatically-assigned IP address.
If the above steps do not fix the problem, install Angry IP scanner and find the address for your limelight.
Go to :5801, and give your limelight a .11 static IP.
From this point onward, you can rely on the static IP to access the page.
As in the instructions, I highly urge you to use a static IP address when you reconfigure it.
Networking Setup
We highly reccomend following the static IP instructions for reliability during events.
Follow these steps before starting:
Go to add/remove programs in windows, and search for “bonjour”
How many items do you see?
If there are two (2) items with “bonjour” in their names, uninstall “bonjour print services”
If there are no (0) items with “bonjour” in their names, install bonjour from our Downloads page.
Power-up your robot, and connect your laptop to your robot’s network.
After your Limelight flashes its LED array, open the Limelight Finder Tool and search for your Limelight or navigate to http://limelight.local:5801. This is the configuration panel.
Navigate to the “Settings” tab on the left side of the interface.
Enter your team number and press the “Update Team Number” button.
Thank you @billbo911 for your reply! We just tried using that button. After it started to blink we let go of the button and the light became solid. We attempted to go to Limelight.local:5801 and that didn’t work. It gives the same error as we got earlier. Is there something else we should/can try?
