According to http://www.usfirst.org/robotics/robovation/, a company called Robotica, Ltd. owns the trademark EduBot, and therefore we are asked to refrain from using the name EDUBOT in relation to FIRST programs or competitions. Instead, we are to call it FIRST Robovation.
No more sending EduBot off with a wireless camera and telling it “God speed EduBot”. Now I guess it will have to be god speed robovation. It will be hard to get robovation stuck in my head rather than edubot.

I think that just like almost everyone calls the Championship Nationals, everyone will continue to call the “Robovation” the EDUbot.

Just be careful if you chose to do so. You may end up with Robotica Ltd. lawyers coming after you, lawsuit in hand.
Please, not the lawyers thread again!
Suppose there is no chance of getting Robotica to help sponsor FIRST, huh?
Okay, so the name changes to stay legal. Is there more to it than a name change? Is there a Robovation competition coming? Is there more than meets the eye in this change? A new class of competition? The web site at InnovationFirst is not using this name yet.
I don’t like that name change… I don’t know… EDUBot just rolls off the tongue whereas Robovation I don’t know… It just not the same… I’ll probably still refer to it as EDUbot… I CAN’T WAIT TILL THE COMPETITIONS AND THE GAME THIS YEAR!!!
Hmmm…
Is Robovation the name of the FIRST Program - or is it the noun officially used to call the robot itself?
I thought it was alway called the EDURobotics kit anyway…
In Canada, because of the Canadian Kickoff, it is called the BetaBot so we have the BetaBot competition … personally i like BetaBot better than Robovation …
Quick! Register it, so no one can take it from you.
