(JPL) Yuri's Night- For LA based or LA visiting teams

We are looking for a few teams that would like to showcase their robot
at a science educational fair at Griffith Observatory and talk about
the useful fun of the FIRST competition.

Yuri’s Night, a science and technology outreach event, will be held at
Griffith Observatory, Thursday, April 12. From 10-6 there will be a
free educational fair on the main lawn in front
of the Observatory. This will include some science fair activities and
museum exhibits, several booths from various aerospace and scientific
sponsors of the event, and FIRST robotic teams.

At 7pm, the guest speakers will begin. George Takei (Sulu from Star
Trek) and Ray Bradbury (author of “Fahrenheit 451” and future-thinker)
will speak. Then there will be a regular observatory show at 8:45.
Should be a fun day. Those that come will probably both learn a lot
and teach the general public about robots and what is possible.

Interested teams should contact Andy Carmain at [email protected]. We
would like to hear interest as soon as possible so we can discuss
logistics.

While reading this I was looking forward to going but realized it’s during Atlanta Week, =(

That was the issue our team had. We were really excited to give back to JPL (which gives us a lot of support mentor-wise and money-wise), but as soon as our mentor realized it was the weekend of Nationals, he said we can make it up later.

If you haven’t already, send this information to Nancy McIntyre, the FRC senior mentor for LA. She can send this out to all the mentors in LA.

Will any of this be filmed?

Sounds cool.
How many teams will be there?
Hopefully we (1717) can make it.

When do we need to inform you by if we’re interesting in attending?
