Jumpstart 2019

Save the Date! December 7st is JUMPSTART!

We are proud to announce that JUMPSTART 2019 will be returning on the campus of St Cloud State University for its fifth year! The main event will happen on Saturday, December 7 with more happening on Friday, Dec 6.

More information and registration here!

Spill-over Engineering Sessions - Friday, December 6

The biggest change this year is that we will actually be starting the event a day earlier. For those that travel in the night before and those that are local, we will be having more in-depth and hands-on-machines offerings. These sessions are geared to smaller groups, longer sessions, and with some of the best minds in Minnesota conducting them.

Vendor Fair

Continuing on the success of last year we will be offering the Vendor Fair. We are bringing in local vendors to showcase available products and opportunities for students.

FTC Vermillion League - High Tech Kids Partnership

Another highlight of this event is High Tech Kids partnering with JUMPSTART and bringing The Vermillion League to the campus. They will be playing their matches in the Ballroom in Atwood Memorial Center. The 11 teams in this league will be playing their final matches before they head off to the MN SuperQualifiers in January. We are looking forward to expanding our partnership with High Tech kids in future years to bring more FIRST events to JUMPSTART Training events!

Minnesota Robotics Coaches Association

The Minnesota Robotics Coaches Association has designated JUMPSTART Training Event at SCSU as the coaches clinic this year moving forward. We will have reps from the Minnesota State High School Coaches Association at the event to help answer questions about the MSHSCA and the MRCA.

We hope to have you join us this year!

Cheers to team 4607, St. Cloud State University, Volunteers and Teams that helped put this great training event on! With over 700 FRC and FTC students learning and competing, this has to be the largest event outside of Champs. Every time our teams attend we learn something new. It is a great way to get students hyped pre kickoff. If you don’t have an event like this in your area you should.

Thanks! Our students get as much out of this event as anybody, and it certainly wouldn’t be possible without a ton of effort from many different teams. The support the SCSU has had for this event over the years has been incredible. Without them it wouldn’t be possible to keep it as a free training event. I think the final tally was something like 760 FRC participants and 300-350 FTC participants… it was wild to see so many robotics people in one place outside of a competition.

I have heard some chatter that this is one of and possibly these biggest event SCSU currently host on campus. It is great to be apart of something so impressive. It baffles the mind the teams travel 3+hrs one way to attend lectures on a Saturday.

Waiting on the final data points to be collected but that 3hr mark possibly might not be the largest. It just the furthest team I recognized.

Babbitt (5653) is probably the furthest away at a touch over 3 hours. Here is the map of teams that have attended JUMPSTART over the last 5 years. Diamonds represent rookies that year, stars are Chairman’s teams.

There were 740 attendees this year (mentors and students) from 43 different teams. The Vermillion League Meet 3 (FTC) brought in another 10 teams with over 100 students/mentors and appx. 250 fans. With nearly 1100 people through SCSU it marks the largest JUMPSTART training event to date.

Thanks to the CMNRH, SCSU, all the presenters… unbelievable how this has grown over the years.
