Has anyone else scratched their heads at how FIRST computes the final standings?

This year we made it to the semi-finals in Chicago, the quarter-finals in Philly, the semi-finals in Ypsi, and the quarter-finals at the Nationals.

Our finishes have been 4th, 8th, 4th, and 5th, respectively. It is confusing to us, because there does not seem to be any consistant pattern as to whether we were highly ranked or whether we scored a bunch in the elimination rounds or anything else that we have thought of.

It is a mystery to us how the various semi-finalists and quarter-finalists are sorted out.

Anybody have any clues to the Zen FIRST uses?

I think they rank the teams in the elimination rounds based first on what tier they ended up, and secondly on how many points they scored in the elimination rounds.

This is how my alliance managed to grab 9th. We won the first of our three rounds in the octa-finals(?), and that score tripled. That’s how come we ranked the highest of all those eliminated in that round of competition. Thanks for letting us win that one! =)

This is just a guess though, see if it fits your team…
