The KC STEM Alliance posted a job opening for the Executive Director position. Martha McCabe is now working with Project Lead the Way. Her work has paved the way for lots of STEM opportunity for students here in Kansas City and I’m sure the next person will similarly create fantastic and equitable outcomes.

Holy heck that’s good for a Midwest educational position. I’ve seen similar job responsibilities listed at half that, kudos to the team that establishes the value of the position!

I can’t say I have insight into the decisions, but it seems to have been a hallmark of the support for the programs in the region, I think coming initially from the Ewing Kauffman Foundation. That when they supported programs they didn’t pull any stops, seemingly a characteristic of Ewing himself. I think that mentality is one that had influence with the various corporations and partners that they’ve worked with over the years. I believe the advisory board is doing the search, so I expect the salary to be something they’ve came up with, many of them being industrial partners to the program.
