Kettering Kickoff

Who from CD.com is going to be there? I know I will be after my year absence from FIRST and I wanna come at FIRST harder than I ever have. This past year has given me time to thing and get my life straight.

So - who else will be there? With your team? By yourself? I will be there with my team the RoboCards (0005)

Glad you’ll be there! It’ll be MUCH better than last year.

Team 217 will be there. I will too, but I won’t be with my team. I’ll be either DJing again like last year, or Head Referee. Oh, and Paul Copioil is Announcing (Which he does a much better job doing than MCing, IMHO.:))

Speaking of which, I think it’s time that I got around to making a KK Music thread…

I’ll be there hopefully though my team is not attending.

The Kettering Kickoff is an off season competition in Michigan on Saturday September 18th this year.

(Oct. 23 is Sweet Repeat oops…)

Kettering Kickoff isn’t part of the FIRST Kickoff event. It’s a preseason competition (only in 39 days!!!) in Flint, MI.

Edit: Dez, it’s September 18th, not Oct 23rd.

ill go to michigan =P… looks up at post and feels stupid about all of this

*backs away from the thread trying to keep his sanity…

Than I may have my years mixed up…Maybe I did go last year. Myself and DJ did announce one match…

Tom N (Mentor; Team 67) wants to get our team to come, as do I, but we’ll see if enough other people on 67 wants to come. We probably will get enough people though.

Wasn’t that Sweet Repeat?

Yes. Now that you bring it up. It was…

Do I have my competitions mixed up…

As usual, I’ll be there at my normal location…at playing field level for a change, rather than up in the rafters…

Does anyone know if there’s an official list of participants anywhere?

[edit] Thanks Allison & Dan  [/edit]

I wish 45 could go. It just didn’t work out for us to come this year…as I know. It looks like there will be some stiff competition there. Hopefully the same teams will be at FSR. As of now, I think we will be at FSR on Oct. 9th hope to see you all there!

-Kyle

I’ll be there tomorrow with 818.

Another early morning for FIRST, but it’s worth it in the end. Here’s hoping that we can be part of the winning alliance for the second year in a row…

I just wanted to take a second and thank the teams who participated in the Kettering Kick-off. It was great to have one more opportunity to make BOB fly. There is not much more I can say about 1243 and 27 except we were proud to be part of your team for the finals.

Thanks to the volunteers for all your work, Kettering was a great time for us and we hope to be back next year.

Steve Yasick

Thank-You BOB (85) and Team RUSH (27) for a great alliance! The teamwork was great! Our Rookie debut in our local event couldn’t have been much better. Had we "CAP"italized on a couple of early opportunities during the Finals we would have taken the “Top Dog Trophy”! In any case we still feel pretty good about everything considering that we were against the National Champions & Finalists- and they didn’t just walk away with a win! Congratulations to teams 494, 469, and 1227!!

For our rookie team, the strong performance against the “Top-Dogs” was a tremendous confidence boost! We had won against both teams separately in previous events, so our driver confidence was already pretty high. We hope this boost will stay with them as we take “Dragon-1” to the FORD Sweet Repeat, and carry-over into 2005!!

Special thanks to Kyle Hughes from Team RUSH whose outstanding leadership and support helped us to improve our performance as we progressed through the finals! It was great to be out there and show that Swartz Creek (Which is a small town outside of Flint, MI) can run with the “Big Dogs”!

Kettering Kickoff was and excellent event.

It was the first competition any of our new members ever attended, and it sure solidified their membership to the team. Many thanks to 494 and 1227 for making a great alliance, and thanks to 27, 85, and 1243 for playing an excellent match, all the way to four matches!

See you all at Sweet Repeat.

The Kettering Kick Off was as always a great season opener for the new students and a good refresher for the returning team members and mentors. The competition was fierce, even with the new drive teams that were still learning their machines (like ours and 469’s).

Many thanks to all that attended and especially to our alliance partners, 469 and 1227. It was a pleasure to finally be on the same side!

Sincerely,

the Martians
