kid from team 48

does anybody know the condition of the student from team 48 who was crowd surfing and landed on his neck? i heard that he went into surgery on saturday.

i was right in front of where he landed and it was not a pretty sight.

I just want to say that I hope the kid, whoever he was, is feeling better. It was such an awful thing that happened. Crowdsurfing can get pretty dangerous when you are practically putting your life in the hands of other teenagers.

Get well soon.

Who whould be stupid enough to even have the idea to body surf to that band.

I am an engineer on Team 48. I was at the party, and I can verify that the person who got hurt was not one of our students. Everyone here on the Delphi ELITE team sends their best wishes for a speedy recovery to the student who was injured.

The student is on Team 247 Berkley Bears. I hope he is going to be okay. You can’t change the past, but you can learn from it!

The student’s first name was Chris and YES he is on team 247.
Get well soon Chris from all the members of team 535.

on saturday at the competition a couple of my teammates and i asked his team about his condition and they informed us that he ended up with some internal bleeding in the back of his head, which resulted in a blood clot. He was supposed to have surgery and go home on sunday. he is supposed to come out all right. even though that was bad it could have been a lot worse. I hope that he’s alright and get well soon from team 234.

Although I didn’t see the accident (and only later found out why the ambulance was there), I want to wish a quick recovery to the injured student. Hopefully this will be a reminder why in the past FIRST has always tried to make the Friday night parties fun AND safe.

Does anyone know how Chris is doing? Is he still at the hospital or did they let him go home? Inquiring Firsters want to know

Get well Chris!!!

First of all, on behalf of Chris and his family, I’d like to thank everyone for their concern about Chris’ condition. Just to fill in the blanks on what happened, the impact of the fall was far greater than anyone could have imagined. Chris suffered 2 subdural haematomas, 2 skull fractures, and an epidural haematoma. Chris missed a good deal of school, but returned last week. The coming months will be important for his recovery, but it is good enjoying his company and sense of humor at school again.

It goes without saying that the evening of the accident, and the days that followed were trying times for those that care so much about Chris. It was so very gratifying to see the concern and support that came from our FIRST community. Seeing how the FIRST community reacted to Chris’ accident reaffirmed my faith in FIRST, and made me prouder than ever to be a part of such a great mission. Here’s Chris’ e-mail if you’d like to send your wishes directly to him: [email protected]

I happened to be in a very unique vantage point and saw the whole incident. By any chance, does anyone know who the kid was who dropped Chris? I would just like to get their perspective on what happened. Nonetheless, please take this incident as a very serious lesson. One of Chris’ doctors told me that if the fall were 6" higher we would have been looking at a fatality. Please make a point of not partaking in crowd surfing, moshing, or rowdy behavior at team party’s. If you see it going on, alert someone so that a tragic situation can be avoided!

Be well people. Good luck to those headed to Nationals!

OK, its not that those activities aren’t dangerous, but they should be done with others that know what they are doing. Given, there are probably a lot of people that do it at real shows and such, but this is robotics. Everyone should just keep that stuff in its element and out of places like the parties. People don’t know what they’re doing, and see’ing as its happened, people can get hurt. Don’t try to “look cool” cause you’ll just get hurt. I hope chris is doing better…

Best wishes from Team 885 for you, Chirs. I hope you’re doing well again…

So long, Phil

Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery, Chris.

From Team 40

good luck to chris. team 234 is relieved that hes going to be alright.

just to reply to a previous post. there really isnt one kid that dropped him. it was like a hole appeared and no one was there. i was pretty much right about there and saw it happen.

I would like to make a minor correction to an earlier message. My e-mail address is [email protected]. I’d be glad to answer any questions or concerns you might have.
So far, everything is going pretty good, but I still have a long way to go before a full recovery. Thank you all for your concern.

Hey Everyone. My name is Dan, commonly known amongst my teammates as “levin”. I was in Cleveland when Chris has his accident, but I was not a witness, I was busy with the flu back at the hotel. Chris is making an amazing recovery, and looking really good. Chris, your’e one lucky kid, don’t know what we would do without ya.

Peace,

Dan Levin, Team 247

Posts like that…It’s the reason we love ya Levin!

Thanks goldberg!
