KOP Drivetrain modification

Hello everybody. Our team is (quite a bit) behind in the 6 week build phase of the competition and we have yet to select a drivetrain that we can get our hands on (eg. Rhino tracks, 8" pneumatic wheels, ect.) so I have taken the task to try to come up with designs that use the KOP wheels along with the drivetrain we have. My question is if there is any relatively easy way to remove the end plate. We would obviously have to include bumpers and something to cover the 2 side plates.

As a programmer with little technical knowledge in this field I may not be able to answer many questions you have but I will pass this thread on to the build members of the team if any questions I can not answer arise.

Thanks in advance!

Sure! Just tie it together with something else (and more than we used on the Robot in 3 Days robot, because that frame is now a little bent up since we had and open front and minimal bellypan on it).

These work well if you have several http://www.andymark.com/product-p/am-churro.htm?1=1&CartID=0

The chassis (if you built it according to directions) is just bolted together. The end plate is held on with 10-32s. You should be able to take it apart easily.

Cross-braces can be made easily with angle aluminum, or even more easily and consistently using versaframe tubing (I’d recommend the 0.1" thick for this). As Billfred noted above, a rigid belly pan would be a must to keep the frame square.
