Our team just got a “new” laptop and it runs XP. Is it possible to reimage this to windows 7 with the KOP reimaging drive?
It is highly recommended that you NOT do this. The Classmate image is designed for a Classmate and contains drivers and configuration appropriate for such.
Is it possible? It was a donated laptop and it currently runs XP. If not, what are our other options to get this up to windows 7?
Repeat. DO NOT DO THIS!!! Windows XP may suck, but you should just keep it so you cant cause any programmable harm. :]
Simple answer: no. It might technically be possible to manage to get something to work after much research and copying of files and downloading of tools and slipstreaming drivers, but it almost certainly would not be worth the effort.
The only reasonable way to put Windows 7 on your “new” laptop is to legally obtain a Windows 7 installation disk and use it in the normal fashion. Your school or one of your sponsors might be able to help you obtain such a disk as part of a site license agreement with Microsoft; it can’t hurt to ask.
Will windows 7 home work?
