Kudos to the FIRST staff

Engineer on team #190, Gompei, from Massachusetts Academy of Math and Science and WPI.

Looking over how well the Nationals went this year… I just want to say that I think the FIRST staff did an amazing job yet again…

To be honest… I wasn’t really sure how well things would run… especially when we found out we had a match on Archimedes and then very shortly after a match on Einstein… we had people hanging in the pits in case they started calling us and went right from one field to the next… but we didn’t have to worry because they did their best to make sure the matches were lined up so no one was in that position…

Overall… I think FIRST did a spectacular job considering the huge number of teams and their first run at the ‘divisions’…

And maybe people have some sour tastes in their mouths about being snubbed by judges and whatnot… but I personally think it was an amazing job by FIRST, all things considered, and they deserve a pat on the back for it…

And great job for everyone for making it easier for them to do their jobs by cooperating

I never cease to be amazed…

Overall, FIRST did a good job. However, they made one major blunder with the schedule on Archemedes. If anyone has a copy, pull it out an take a look. In matches 7,8,9 team 308 (my team) was listed twice! That meant that we had to do two matches in that set. We had to have one coach (me) in with the drivers, and our other coach (Kevin) discussing strategy with the other teams while we were playing. When we got done playing we only had a few seconds to explain what we were planning to do to the drivers. In the end, the 2nd match was our worst of the competition. Other than this, the competition was great.
