I was wondering about the 2013 LabVIEW update. If we’ve got some computers with LabVIEW 2012, are we able to just install the (currently encrypted) 2013 update, or do we have uninstall LabVIEW 2012 and do a fresh install of 2013 from the KOP?
Any number of versions of LabVIEW will coexist on the same computer without interfering with each other.
The license for last year’s FRC version of LabVIEW is about to expire. There’s no good reason to keep it installed. But there’s no strict requirement for it to be uninstalled before installing this year’s version.
You won’t need to uninstall FRC LabVIEW 2012 (really LabVIEW 2011). You will however need to install FRC LabVIEW 2013 (really LabVIEW 2012). The update you download from the web is just the update for the FIRST components but you need all the regular LabVIEW stuff first.
I have in the past had problems with having multiple versions of LabVIEW installed. I find it best just to completely uninstall LabVIEW and upgrade to the newest version.
