hello, my team has decided they want to build a bot during this off-season, using the old components, like the C-RIO, but from what I can tell, that’s not supported anymore. does anyone know a way to get the old 2014-ish labVIEW software?
I don’t think the Labview version is going to change that much i think you will have a bigger issue with the image and imaging tools.
If I remember correctly, the FRC 2014 season software had the license extended indefinitely for this exact reason, but I don’t know that they still have the downloads available on their site, and you would need your original license code.
I recommend that you reach out to NI, either here or through their forums/support channel. They will be the ones that can give a definitive answer.
The 2014 software is still available. From our FRC Getting Started page:
http://forums.ni.com/t5/FIRST-Robotics-Competition/Getting-Started/ta-p/3534725
Click on the green Download FRC 2017 Software and Setup Guide link.
Scroll down to the Still want to use a 4-slot or 8-slot cRIO? section, and you’ll find the two download links for what you need.
I would suggest you install this on a separate computer from your current FRC software. We do not test installing these on the same computer, and I would expect problems if you do.
Adding to what Doug said, you’ll find NI drivers support the current version and the last 3 service packs back. With 2016, that means you get 2015 SP1, 2014 SP1, and 2013 SP1. With the FRC software being built on the previous year’s LabVIEW, that means the 2014 season used 2013. It’s not tested with the current drivers and next season’s software would overwrite any drivers that would be compatible.
You’ll definitely want to set this up on a spare PC rather than your main PC.
For licensing, someone else was accurate in claiming the FRC 2014 license was indefinite. But, if you don’t have that, you can use your current license to activate older versions of LabVIEW. That means you could use this year’s license to activate the FRC 2014 PC through January. Then, next season you can use that license, etc.
Thanks for all the support!!:ahh: I just got back from spring break and I’ve got the software downloading, thanks again for the help.
